Catherine Ludeau est une artiste plasticienne internationale d'origine française qui travaille la résine epoxy, la peinture et la feuille d'or. Biography Catherine Ludeau was born in Paris and graduated from the Duperré School of Applied Arts. In 1978, she moved to New York , where she explored the world of illustration for press and publishing. From 2000 , for four years, she shared her expertise by teaching drawing, painting and watercolor . In 2011 , Catherine Ludeau introduced epoxy resin into her artistic process for the first time. Using a secret technique she has developed , Catherine creates large-format works of art in both warm and cool colors. She manipulates tinted epoxy resin , sometimes combined with oil or acrylic paint , to play with contrasts. Her work explores the interstices between gloss and matte , black and white, color and colorlessness. Animated reflections in the resin capture the viewer's attention as they move in front of her canvases, becoming an integral part of her compositions. "It's clear that my inspiration lies first and foremost in nature, I need to give a mystical and spiritual dimension to my paintings, and it's always this desire for total purity that drives me." Inspired by Zen philosophy , Catherine seeks to express serenity , balance , well-being and clarity of mind through her art. Her artistic approach, punctuated by metaphysical questioning , makes use of symbols for immediate interpretation. For her, beauty lies in simplicity and purity, because the purer something is, the greater its power.
