Nietzsche said: "When you look into the abyss, know that the abyss also looks into you". It seems that this last pictorial series, called "Watch", contains a deeper, darker center for each painting, making it resemble an eye. Eye of the past, or, to use the oceanic comparison, eye of the maelstrom, evoking those black holes in the sea.
